JOIN FELLOW STUDENTS AND TAKE PART IN LEADERSHIP TRAINING DELIVERED BY ME TO WE EXPERTS!
In 2015 The Grocery Foundation launched the first ever Agents of Change (AOC) Summit which saw students from Ontario – recruited by SNO (Student Nutrition Ontario) — share their thoughts on how to elevate student nutrition within their high schools. The AOC movement builds on The Foundation’s goal to raise funds and elevate awareness about the positive impacts of student nutrition programs.
In 2016 and 2017 The Agents of Change movement went live at the school level with individual students undertaking awareness-building and fundraising to their student population, including helping students become more aware of The Foundation, its support of student nutrition and its Toonies for Tummies in-store and online fundraising efforts. We have written a number of blog posts about students who have been Agents of Change in the past and we encourage you to read them. Here are links to a few:
This year, we introduced new leadership training with ME to WE. The training which was delivered virtually and in person focused on elevating students' awareness of hunger across the province and Canada and the impact of student nutrition programs (SNPs) which are supported by funding from The Foundation's Toonies for Tummies program. Over 10 students took part from Toronto and the GTA, Grimsby, Guelph, Thunder Bay and North Bay.
Here is what some of the students had to say:
The program is very interactive, and teaches points and information in an exciting way...it also makes change feel so possible, makes it feel like it's not a hope, but it's a reality. It's incredibly inspiring.
A workshop type program that goes beyond a classroom format. It allows you to share your ideas freely in a judgment-free zone. A very inclusive and supportive space to be.
